“With how much Rich has given to the BFT network, our involvement to support Very Special Kids and the Burnet family is our way to give back.”
- Team BFT, Virtual Challenge Participants 2021
The Body Fit Training (BFT) team joined the DIY challenge in 2021 for the first time, raising a whopping $66,000!
The BFT team was inspired to be involved because of the personal connection that BFT’s co-CEO, Richard Burnet, has with Very Special Kids. Richard’s two eldest children, Sebastian and Charlie, were diagnosed with a rare illness which has led to a long relationship between the Burnet family and Very Special Kids.
Georgia Dunlop, Marketing & Communications Manager, says “With how much Rich has given to the BFT network, our involvement to support Very Special Kids and the Burnet family is our way to give back.”
The BFT team challenged themselves to ride 15,603km which is the distance between their furthest studio, Fort Lauderdale in the United States, to Melbourne, where BFT started. Off the back of two years of COVID-19, the network was no stranger to virtual workouts! And with gyms all across the world and Australia, a virtual ride meant everyone could get involved and help keep the 24-hour momentum!
“Our virtual ride was a team effort. Everything we do is around community and the virtual ride was no different – we made sure no one was riding alone. We had HQ staff jumping on frequently to check in, and Rich and the Burnets spent a lot of time on the Zoom as well. The BFT network is unbelievable – the connection and ability to rally together is like nothing I’ve seen before. Whether it’s for a workout, or at a conference, or raising money – it’s such a team mentality and we do it for each other.”
The BFT team were clearly motivated to raise as much as they could for seriously-ill kids, and were thrilled to raise such an incredible amount. “It’s a testament to us that if we all work together and back each other in, we can achieve great things. We are super proud of the BFT network.”
